是今年的夏至。

夏至的“至”是什么意思呢？

是到来的意思吗？

夏至的“至”，不是到来的意思，而是……

其实，

这里的“至”指的是“极、最”，

强调的是天文意义上的极致。

“极致”，

其中又有两层含义：

第一层含义是

北半球白昼时间在一年中最长。

夏至当天，

除海南等地外，

我国大部分地区日照时间为一年中最长，

且昼长均大于夜长，

越往北昼越长。

如哈尔滨日照时间在16小时左右，

南京可达14小时，

即便在海口，

也有13小时。

第二层含义是

太阳高度角（即太阳光的入射方向和地球地平面之间的夹角）最大。

日晷，

是古代利用日影测得时刻的一种计时仪器。

夏至的“至”，不是到来的意思，而是……

夏至这天，

太阳光直射日晷的晷针，

无法形成影子以在晷面上指示时刻

——从现代天文学的角度，

这种现象的出现，

就是因为此时的北半球太阳高度角最大，

几乎直射北回归线区域。

在我国大部分地区，

夏至这天，

太阳高度角达到了一年中的最大值。

夏至的“至”，不是到来的意思，而是……

事实上，

整个二十四节气都与太阳高度角紧密相关。

古人发现，

随着太阳的移动，

物体的影子也会相应移动。

利用仪器，

他们还慢慢发现了日影最短的夏至和日影最长的冬至，

并通过测量相邻两年的冬至时刻，

确定了一个回归年的长度。

接着，

又利用日影长短变化规律，

结合气候寒暑变化规律，

确立了春分、秋分，

立春、立夏、立秋、立冬等，

逐渐勾勒出一年四季的图像。

夏至的“至”，不是到来的意思，而是……

日照时间最长、太阳高度角最大，

那么夏至是不是一年中最热的一天呢？

其实，

因为光照时间长、地表太阳辐射充足，

夏至时气温确实会比较高。

但夏至之后，

因太阳光照将向南再次“扫描”北半球，

热量还会继续积蓄，

之后我们才会迎来夏季最热的两个节气

——小暑和大暑。

值得一提的是，

对于气温的高低，

气象学给出了标准：

日最高气温达到或者超过35摄氏度时称为高温，

达到或者超过37摄氏度时称为酷暑。

“绿树阴浓夏日长，

楼台倒影入池塘”。

夏至虽热，

却是万物生长最茂盛的时候。
